Youth With A Mission, (YWAM) Native Ministries, Kamiah, Idaho was established in the summer of 1993. We began developing friendships with the Nez Perce people, and attending the local churches. We desire to honor the godly foundations already laid. Through growing relationships we began to see doors open for ministry. We received invitations to assist with youth programs, help with building projects and host outreach teams that served the Native churches and the community. An elder of one of the Native Churches told us that we were the “Sent Ones” that they had praying for.
We remain involved in local ministry through the Native churches, teaching Sunday School, preaching God’s Word, helping with building projects and presenting activities for young people. At our ministry center we offered weekly Bible Studies, Community Nights for worship, prayer and teaching and hosted church and YWAM teams reaching out to our community with practical service, Youth Rallies, Basketball Camps, Kids programs and Open Air meetings.
It is our prayer to see Native people released into missions, taking the salvation message about Creator Jesus into all the world.
- We believe that the Lord has uniquely gifted Native American and First Nations people and is opening many doors for them to share His Good Message through the means of culture around the world.
- We believe Creator Jesus has come to comfort the grieving, to give them a headdress instead of ashes, Joy instead of mourning, hope will replace despair.
- Ancient ruins will be restored, injustice removed and they will be called Servants of the Lord.
- Instead of shame they will inherit a double portion because the Lord loves justice, He hates robbery and wrongdoing.
Their descendants will be known among the nations–all who see them will acknowledge that they are a people the Lord has blessed! (Isaiah 61)
